These plants are found from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela and Colombia as a large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial or lithophyte growing most in open areas between grasses and rocks, especially on roadside banks in pine oak forest and mountain rain forest. What makes this different from other Epidendrum radicans is the color (Pinkish/lavender) and the flowers are very small 1/2" inch in diameter. They are very vigorous growers and prolific bloomers and will grow well outdoors in the ground or potted (do not plant in soil/dirt- use medium or seedling size bark if planting in the ground). This is basically "Grows like a Weed" type orchid. You are browsing on a blooming size plant (blooms on a small plant) These plants are at least 3-4 years old and are very well established (It is a division/keiki off the original mother plant) . (Grows super fast and really easy to bloom) Recommended to any epidendrum lovers!! *As far as we know, we are the only nursery who has this plant. The original plant was given to my Grandfather 'Patrick Kawamoto' back in the early 70's. Our good friend from San Diego "Ed Marty' named it "Pink Powder Puff'".
*Please note: Leaves are light yellowish due to growing in bright sunlight- also some black spotting is present on some leaves and bulbs due to being grown under shade cloths. (No protection from rain and other weather elements) Plants are still very healthy!
